Sammy Morgan, CVT, Lead Technician, Assistant Manager

Sammy is a Certified Veterinary Technician who has been working in the veterinary field since 2016. She graduated from the Portland Community College Veterinary Technology Program in June 2018 and passed her Veterinary Technician National Examination in July 2018 to become certified. During the summer of 2017, Sammy used an internship opportunity while in school to learn large animal medicine with Dr. Blake. This is where she fell in love with this line of work.

When she’s not going on farm calls with Dr. Blake, Sammy also works at a small animal clinic in Hillsboro. She enjoys the variety of being able to work with dogs and cats part of the week, and then going on farm calls to work with animals of all sizes. While a technician’s job consists of many skills, Sammy thrives when inducing and monitoring anesthesia to ensure a patient’s safety. She strives to become specialized in anesthesia and analgesia in the future.

Some of Sammy’s hobbies include reading, gardening, needle point, yoga, and playing video games. She lives in a household with four cats and would one day like to own a small dog and start a family.

Sammy lived in the Portland area until she was 13 years old when she moved with her family out to the small logging town of Vernonia, about an hour west of Portland. After graduating high school in Vernonia she moved back to the Portland area for college and job opportunities. One day she may want to move back to Vernonia when she’s started a family, as she has fond memories of growing up in a small community surrounded by the beautiful hills and rivers.
